The primary mirror was made by renowned belgian mirror-maker Dany Cardoen, whose optics are used by many professional observatories worldwide. A recent test by John Nichol confirmed the high quality of our mirror (see ronchii test results at right) and the mirror was recently re-aluminised by Galvoptics of Basildon, Essex.
We have an Apogee AP47p, back-illuminated CCD, with a Marconi 1024x1024 chip. This CCD was donated to us by The Planetary Society Shoemaker Award Scheme for our work in asteroid astrometry. We also have an SBig ST-4 piggy-backed on an 8" cassegrain for autoguiding, and various cameras, video equipment and interference filters.
